Great Lakes shipping moves semi-finished steel products such as slabs, plates, bars, and coils throughout the Great Lakes so that local steel processing companies may perform additional value-added processing like rolling, stamping or pickling. Limestone, one of the top commercial cargos moved is used in cement production and road construction.
