Great Lakes Iron Ore Trade Up Slightly in April
CLEVELAND – Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes totaled 5.1 million tons in April, an increase of 1.6 percent compared to last year. Shipments were 5.5 percent ahead of the month’s 5-year average.
Year-to-date the iron ore trade stands at 8.2 million tons, a decrease of 2.7 percent compared to the same point in 2018.
Through April iron ore shipments are 1.3 percent below their 5-year average for four months of the year.
