Great Lakes Iron Ore Trade Up 19.5 Percent in September
CLEVELAND—Iron ore shipments on the Great Lakes totaled 6.4 million tons in September, a decrease of 2.3 percent from August, but an increase of 19.5 percent compared to a year ago.
September loadings also were up 15.1 percent compared to the month’s 5-year average.
Shipments from U.S. ports totaled 5.6 million tons, an increase of nearly 29 percent compared to a year ago. Loadings at Canadian ports were virtually unchanged from a year ago.
